I've finished painting the dresser duck-egg blue...the paint has dried and I'm really happy with the result...but...the paint itself doesn't seem to be hard enough to withstand knocks and scrapes, so I may have to coat it with a layer or two of varnish....
I couldn't make my mind up what I wanted to do with the top of the base...should I just repaint it the same colour? Or should I varnish it? Or should I put white woodstain on it? In the end I decided to rub the same duck-egg blue satinwood paint over the top, and then rub it off again, so that the wood grain could still be seen. I think it may need another very thin coat though, just to get rid of the orange pine look...

Ooh it's lovely! Could you just wax it to save yourself the faff of varnishing? I've found it protects the things that I've painted. Can't wait to see it finished and dressed with your lovely things!

Hi Claire..I've found a non-yellowing varnish that is so easy to use, and it doesn't even show when it's on! I'll put some pictures up next week..thanks..:) x
