More changes to the back....

More changes taking place to the back of the house now...things are moving fast!

New doors in the hallway at last!

The inner door to the house has always been a glass paned one, but the double doors to the living room were boarded up when we move in...I'm not sure why as the lady who lived here before us had a wheelchair, and I would have thought that she would have needed the doors to be useable.  

We closed off the opening between the front and back rooms and opened up the boarded double door entrance..I think it looks so much better now. 

Painted vintage bedhead...

I've finally painted my vintage bedhead to go with my new blue bedroom...and I think it looks blooming lovely! I was going to paint it using either Farrow and Ball or the new Annie Sloan paint, but a quick look in my paint cupboard unearthed a fantastic acrylic eggshell paint called Swedish Blue, by Craig and Rose 1829...I didn't realise that I still had this paint and it was a bit battered to say the least! 

I took the lid off and it nearly knocked me out with its pungent 5 year aroma! It was like a dream to paint with though and I would recommend it for painting furniture...sadly the Swedish Blue is discontinued but they do have a very similar one on their website..

Lovin' my new header!

My Annie Sloan chalk paint has arrrived!

 I've just discovered Annie Sloan chalk paint! I've started to paint my old pine dresser that I've had since I got married in the 1980s.  It has already been painted cream using satinwood paint but it never looked right.  This time I'm painting it a lovely duck-egg blue.  I've only done the top half.

It needed two coats and the inside needed to dry before I moved it, as the dresser is in two pieces and I thought I would try and get the top half just right before I move everything out of the bottom half...yes it is a little crazy in my house!

I'm going for this look, but as it's my first time with this paint I might be way off! This look is created by painting with the chalk paint first and then applying a dark wax over the top and rubbing it down slightly...hopefully!

Creamy dreamy blue bedroom...

This is the beginning of my new bedroom...I'm going for a pale blue, cream and white scheme, similar to this one I saw a while back...

Finally got the back of the house all done...it looks so much better than it did when we moved in!
